Programs and Services

• Saturday curling league — a weekly league from October through April for adults of all skill levels, played at the North Hill Curling Club and the Calgary Curling Club. League details
• Learn to Curl — a free clinic that teaches new players the basics of the game, equipment, and etiquette. Learn to Curl
• Western Cup bonspiel — an annual 56-team tournament hosted by the League, the largest 2SLGBTQI+ bonspiel in the world. Western Cup
• Social events — registration, holiday and season-end parties, trivia, bingo, and other community events held throughout the season. Social events
• Skill development — instruction and mentorship that help members improve their curling at every level.

Objectives

As registered with the Alberta Corporate Registry, the objectives of the League are:

1. to provide opportunities for participation in the sport of curling for adults of all skill levels;
2. to foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive curling community for Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and other 2SLGBTQI+ individuals, and their allies, primarily in Calgary, Alberta and the surrounding region;
3. to foster social connection, community engagement, and well-being among Members through participation in the sport of curling and related social activities;
4. to organize, host, and participate in curling leagues, tournaments, and competitive events, whether independently or in partnership with other organizations;
5. to support the development of Members' curling abilities through instruction, mentorship, and skill-building programs;
6. to cooperate with other curling, sport, and community organizations, including the Canadian Pride Curling Association, in advancing the sport of curling and the inclusion of 2SLGBTQI+ participants in sport;
7. to promote and support inclusion, equity, and safe participation in sport for 2SLGBTQI+ communities;
8. to promote a culture of respect, dignity, and accountability among Members through policies and practices that support safe participation in the sport of curling;
9. to manage the resources of the League prudently and responsibly, maintaining its financial sustainability while applying its funds toward these objectives; and
10. to undertake activities incidental or conducive to these objectives, consistent with the By-laws and the Act.
