League Format

League registration begins around the end of August each year, with games usually running from October to April.

• Pools: Multiple pools of teams, each roughly divided by team skill. Teams may move up or down during the season depending on their win/loss record in the round.
• Round Robin: All teams in each pool play one another. The teams with the best records move up to the next higher pool, while the teams with the fewest wins move down.
• Playoffs: Optional single-elimination playoffs over the last 3 weeks of the season, seeded by round-robin points.

How to Join

First, create a profile on League Buddy. Then, when registration opens in late summer, be ready to sign up for the season — spots fill quickly, so don’t wait.

• Join as:
  • A full team (4-7 players)
  • A single player (we can't make any promises, but we'll try to find a team for you)
  • A spare player.
• When: The exact registration date will be announced on the news page.

What It Costs

Registration can look like a big number up front, but broken down per game, curling is one of the most affordable ways to spend a Calgary winter. See what a game costs for each team size, and how it compares to other winter activities.

League History

The league started in 1991 and has seen its share of highs and lows in terms of the number of teams. This season we have 50 teams, playing at both the North Hill Curling Club and the Calgary Curling Club.

By-laws

The Apollo Curling League is a non-profit society incorporated under the Societies Act (Alberta). Our By-laws set out how the League is run: membership, the Annual General Meeting, the Board of Directors, and how the By-laws can be amended.
