Registration Begins

On-line registration for the 20th curling season opened on Sunday, August 8th. We're planning on 24 teams, and registration is "first come, first served," so get your registration in early!

Curling Clinic

The pre-season curling clinic is tentatively planned for Saturday, Oct 2 @1pm, and will last approximately 3 hours.

Need a Spare Player?

The people on the spare list can be found by clicking on the Contact List - they are at the top of the list. Also, have a look a which teams have a bye on the day that you're playing. Since those teams aren't playing, any of those players could spare if they're available. As well, any team that has 5 players will always have one person not playing, so that person may be able to spare. Remember, spare players always have to play lead (or lead & second if you're using two spares).

Players who spare must have an Apollo Membership ($20 per year), and must pay spare fees of $10.00 per game (unless they're a regular member of a different Apollo curling team).

Clean Your Shoes, Please

The NHCC staff has asked us to remind all players to ensure that your shoes are completely free of dirt before you enter the curling rink. Even if you think your shoes are clean, please double check them.

Scores

Please enter the scores for your games on-line as soon as possible after the completion of the game. This includes forfeits.

Do you suffer from POBS?

CALGARY, AB - Studies show that 8 out of 10 Canadians are afflicted with POBS, or Post Olympic Blues Syndrome. Apollo Curling has the remedy! Sign up for our free, learn to curl clinic, coming in October of 2010. We will teach you the rules of the game, how to deliver a curling stone, and how to sweep. All you need to do is show up. If you like it, we can try to find a team for you to play on. Better yet, bring three or four of your friends along, and join the league as a foursome or a five person team.

Curling is an extremely social sport. You'll be guaranteed to make new friends both on and off the ice. The lounge is always busy with post game festivities after each draw time.

This year will be Apollo Curling's 20th season. We play at the North Hill Curling Club on Saturday afternoons, from October to March. Our league is split into pools, so that every level of player, from beginner to Olympic contender, can find the appropriate level of competition. Teams can consist of all guys, all gals, or any mix of both. The league is open to anyone, over the age of 18.

For more information, please contact the league organizers by emailing organizers [at] apollocurling.com.
